In Memoriam: Ken Grimes

We regret to inform you of the passing on March 15, 2016, of Kenneth Haldain Grimes, 77, father of former CFSA Board member Kyle Grimes of Keith M. Merrick Company.

Ken was born September 18, 1938, in the family home in Eldorado, Iowa, the son of Boyd Haldain and Helen (Lauer) Grimes. He graduated from West Union High School in 1956 and served four years in the Air Force, three of them in Europe. Ken married Janice Borness on April 2, 1961. He worked at Rath’s Experimental Swine Farm and farmed near Elkader, Iowa, prior to moving to Eldorado. He was the Outstanding Young Farmer of Fayette County and spent countless hours involved with the Holstein Association, 4-H Leader, Wisconsin Dairies Board of Directors, Iowa Dairy Association Board, Farm Bureau Member, DHIA, West Union Co-op Board, Saddle Club, and supporting the local FFA. He spent several years as a square dance caller. After retiring from farming, he and Janice enjoyed traveling the U.S. for 11 years working for Pharmaceutical Innovators Limited.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 19, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Eldorado, Iowa, with committal following at the church cemetery. Iowa Cremation Service provided arrangements.
