August Wanka

We regret to inform you that August Wanka passed away on April 20, 2017.  He was president of CFSA-member company Casket Hardware Manufacturers Ltd. in Farnham, Quebec, Canada.

Gus was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1942. After military service in Vietnam, he began a 25-year successful career working for Kraft Foods, eventually transferring to Canada and rising to the level of CFO with Kraft Foods Canada. After brief stints in the medical and sporting goods industries, he purchased Casket Hardware Manufacturers in 1996 and served as its president until his passing last week. His son, Andrew, is now a part owner and General Manager.  The company first joined CFSA in 1997.

Gus is survived by his wife Carol, son Andy (Robyn), and daughter Katherine. He loved spending time with his grandkids!

A celebration of Gus’ life will be held in Montreal later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gus’ honor to any cancer-related charity in Canada or the U.S. Condolence notes may be sent to the Wanka family in care of Andy at the company headquarters: Casket Hardware Manufacturers Ltd., 211 Berard Street, Farnham, Quebec, Canada J2N 2L4.  There is no obituary available yet.
