Northern Casket previously was a CFSA member about 15 years ago, and we are thrilled to welcome them back! From their company website, here’s a brief company description: “Founded in 1926, Northern Casket produced its first casket on February 2, 1927. Throughout more than 80 years of manufacturing, Northern has worked very hard to produce goods of superior quality of materials, construction, and workmanship. The simple philosophy of Northern Casket, to produce superior goods at competitive prices, has resulted in our success and growth from a small regional supplier of caskets to a major Canadian manufacturer.” Gord Ferguson purchased the company from his father and uncle in 1987, and Gord’s two sons are now in management positions as the fourth generation.

Tribute is a brand new company which has yet to make a sale as a distributor to funeral homes, cemeteries, crematories, and manufacturers. The company was founded in 2015, and has a business plan to begin operations in the next six to nine months. The company’s goal is to become a “one stop shop” for the prospective customer list noted above. Mr. Darryl Roberts, who is the principal among a group of partners forming this new company, is semi-retired and sold his previous company, Legacy One, to Stewart in 1994. Mr. Roberts is also a past president of the predecessor association to ICCFA. He and his partners will be attending our Fall Conference & Trade Show.

CFSA-member company IVC Industrial Coating was recently acquired by PPG Industries. As a result, PPG elected to apply for CFSA membership under the new company and with combined resources. In their membership application, Mr. Wyatt Aasen, Director-Strategic Initiatives, wrote: “In September 2015, PPG acquired IVC Industrial Coatings, Inc. to enhance overall value and service of coatings supplied to the industrial OEM customer base, including the North American casket industry. IVC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PPG Industries.” Current CFSA Treasurer Jerry Burchett will continue to be the contact person for PPG.
