T&M Horizons Acquires Halo International

Tony and Margie Colson, founders of T&M Horizons, LLC, a newly-formed company, have announced the acquisition of Halo International Corporation from Mark Pennington. The sale was consummated on April 26, 2017, and Karen McCurdy of Johnson Consulting Group worked closely with both parties to bring about this transaction.

“Over the past two decades, Mark and Barbara Pennington have built an excellent business and developed an enviable reputation for both innovation and customer service,” stated Colson. “I am thankful that Mark has agreed to help with the transition as well as be an advisor and ambassador for Halo moving forward.”

Halo International is a well-established wholesale funeral supplier in the U.S. They are one of the largest providers of memorial urns, pet urns, urn appliques, and printed materials, in addition to having a diversity of other memorialization and tribute products and capabilities. Halo also is a primary distributor of bronze and marble statuary and one of the largest designers and importers of prayer cards and rosaries. The company also boasts an extensive selection of memorial jewelry in 14K gold, sterling silver, brass, and stainless steel.

“As we were looking to sell and transition out of the day-to-day activities of running a successful business, Barb and I wanted to ensure that the business we have built over the past 20 years was left with someone who could build upon the heritage,” said Pennington. “I can’t think of anyone who possesses the experience and passion of both Tony and Margie Colson as it relates to the funeral profession. I am certain they will build upon the strategically-developed Halo International portfolio.”

Both Tony and Margie have spent more than a quarter century in funeral service. Tony was a sales director at Batesville Casket and later President and CEO at both Wilbert Funeral Services and Genesis Casket. Margie is an early innovator and leader in pre-need sales as well as forming/coaching effective sales teams. Her accomplishments in sales and marketing span funeral service, real estate, consumer products, and adult learning. Together, they formed Segue Memorial Group, LLC, in 2014 and own the E. Harper & Son Funeral Home in New Haven, Indiana.

“Our plans are to retain the existing Halo team to ensure our customers don’t experience any disruption in our service levels,” commented Colson. “This group has done an exemplary job of building a solid foundation for continued growth as we expand our geographic footprint.”

“During a transition to a new owner, it’s always reassuring when the staff remains engaged with the business,” commented Pennington. “The entire Halo team is looking forward to staying on and ready to continue to serve our customers with outstanding products and customer service.”
