In Memoriam: Henrietta Fant Mims

Henrietta Fant Mims

Mrs. Henrietta Fant Mims, age 82 of Griffin, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. She was the mother of past CFSA Board member Mike Mims, and grandmother of current Board member Jason Mims, both of Cherokee Casket Company.

Mrs. Mims was born in Shawmut, Alabama, on April 19, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Jackson Fant and Mattie Lee White Fant; husband, Robert Dean Mims; sister-in-law, Nancy Fant; and, daughter-in-law, Vicki Mims.

Survivors include her son, Michael Mims of Griffin; daughter, Cynthia Coldiron and husband, Mike, of Florence, S.C.; grandchildren, Jason Dean Mims and wife, Casey, of Griffin; Landon Clay Coldiron and Alison Dean Coldiron of Greenville, N.C.; brother, Lee Fant, Jr.; sister, Sarah Kathryn Guinn and husband, Larry, of Conway, Ark.; and, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Mims will be on Friday, June 3, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Griffin First Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Hardee will officiate. Interment will follow in the old section of Oak Hill Cemetery. Dean and Henrietta Mims were owners of Cherokee Casket Company before retiring and entrusting the company to their son, Michael Mims. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
