Covington Casket owner: ‘Pets are family, too’

Andalusia, Alabama-based Covington Casket Company is known to be an employee-friendly, community-minded and personal-touch business. So, it was no surprise when Alan Williamson, owner, stepped up – or, rather, BACKED up to a local farmer’s cooperative and had his pickup truck loaded with more than a ton of dog and cat food.

“I saw on Facebook where the Andalusia Animal Shelter needed dog and cat food, especially during this time of the year and I know how much I and all of our employees care about their pets. It was just a real privilege to be able to give back to the community that has given so much to us,” Williamson said.

Covington Casket is a well-known and well-respected employer in the Alabama town that is located about 20 miles north of the Alabama-Florida line.

“Andalusia is a special place,” Williamson said. “Mayor Earl Johnson and The City of Andalusia have just flipped cartwheels to help us grow and have welcomed us with open arms to their new industrial park where we will relocate in the first quarter of 2020. We will more than double our plant size and production. And yes, we’ll be hiring more employees, which just further helps our local economy so we can do things like help the animal shelter and other good causes,” he said.
