From time-to-time, CFSA staff members try to visit our member companies at their site locations. It’s important for the staff to connect with members in their own buildings to get a sense of the day-to-day challenges and priorities, and to explore what opportunities may be available for CFSA to provide a needed service or product. Our staff visited Church & Chapel Metal Arts last summer, and Aurora Casket Company in 2012.
CFSA executive director George Buckley recently visited Schuylkill Haven Casket Company in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania. While in nearby Philadelphia to attend a meeting of the NFDA Exhibitor Advisory Committee, which is planning for the 2016 NFDA annual convention to be held in downtown Philadelphia, Mr. Buckley traveled the circuitous (and hilly) route toward beautiful northern Pennsylvania to visit with Schuylkill Haven’s President (and CFSA President) Tina Houck and her talented staff. “Wow, what an impressive facility!”, said Mr. Buckley. “There is such an inspiring history in those buildings. Tina’s late father, Don Houck, is a CFSA Past President and former winner of the Lifetime Recognition Award in 2003, and it was exciting to learn how the company grew over the decades to become one of the largest manufacturers and employers in the area. Tina and her team could not have been more gracious hosts!”
