CFSA Sponsor Spotlight: Thacker Caskets

We are pleased to continue our series of Sponsor Spotlight articles in which we profile from time to time a different CFSA member company that has chosen to sponsor a program or activity. We are very fortunate to have many generous companies that financially support the association during the year, and this is an opportunity for us to thank them and to profile their company for the entire membership. Thacker Caskets, Inc., headquartered in Florence, Alabama, is a sponsor for our upcoming 2016 CFSA Fall Conference & Trade Show. Here is a nice Q & A with Thacker’s Director of Manufacturing, Justin Thacker.

When did your company first join CFSA, and what do you value most about your membership?

Thacker Caskets first joined CFSA in 1992. Our company has changed and grown a lot since first becoming a CFSA member 24 years ago. We attribute a lot of our growth to the trust, friendship, and business relationships we have with fellow CFSA members. Each year, the Fall Conference affords us the opportunity see what is new in the industry and spend time with fellow funeral supply companies and customers. The CFSA convention is one event that we all look forward to each and every year!

Why has your company become a sponsor of the association?

We benefit so much from CFSA that we have chosen to help sponsor the association so that others can continue to benefit in the same ways that we have. Whether it is the fall convention, the great educational speakers, or the Presidents Reception, they are all made possible through the many generous CFSA sponsors.

Tell us a little about your company.

Thacker Casket began as a local casket distributor in 1939 serving funeral homes around the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Seventeen years ago, Thacker began manufacturing its own metal caskets and today operates out of a 250,000 square foot facility located in Florence, Alabama. Thacker Casket Manufacturing is the only large-scale casket manufacturer that offers a completely custom product line for its distributor customers. This unique ability helps independent distributors compete against the corporate manufacturers in their individual marketplace. As corporate manufacturers continue to compete with local distributors on price, oftentimes a great way to earn new business is to design and bring to market unique casket designs that have great eye appeal and an affordable price. While other manufacturers invest in manufacturing outside of the US, Thacker remains committed to being American-made and family-owned!
